This was the year of the air conditioned birthday party—not out in the back yard in the 90+ degree weather, not the parkour parlor with Nerf guns but no A/C. This year, climate controlled bowling, which Robert has really been enjoying the few times we've gotten to a bowling alley. His style is all his own, but he was bowling some good frames.

We were joined by a bunch of friends, mostly from school but Julia and Ivy from down the street came along. They seemed to have a much fun as anyone else, though Ivy may have taken the game a little too seriously.

I thought mix of Robert's eight year old cohort and younger and older siblings made for a great bunch. They all got along well, took turns without direction and generally had a good time.

And I thought it was great to see so many girls mixed in along with the boys. I don't know how many more years we get before Robert's invitations are less inclusive.

Of course you have to stop and eat once in a while. The pizza and hot dogs seemed to hit the spot and provide a little bit of a break in the bowling. After that late lunch/snack, they were back at bowling while the cake came out.

It was a spectacular and huge cake; stop by, we have some left overs.
