We all headed to Lucca on Monday June 27. Lucca, besides being a great example of small town Tuscany (laid out by the Romans in 180 BC), is famous for the hugely thick wall which surrounds the city (a new addition from the 16th and 17th centuries). The wall has been turned into a lovely walking and biking path. This was a great way for us to get used to what Tuscany had to offer us: history, art, architecture, landscapes and cuisine.
It was also nice that Lucca was so close to our home base; when Robert started to feel his travels and the heat, we could easily retreat to the pool. On Tuesday we headed to Montecarlo.
