13. Shelley Sylveston Williams. Shelley Sylveston Williams was born January 17, 1888, near Norway, South Carolina. After attending the public schools in the vicinity of Norway, he attended Mercer University, Macon, Georgia, for one year. He then entered the University of South Carolina and graduated from this institution in 1909. From this time until about 1920, he was in business with his father, devoting much of his time to managing his father's fertilizer plant. From 1920 until his death, November 18, 1928, he operated a farm on the place where he was born. During the First World War, he served in the United States Navy with the rank of Ensign. Shelley married Christabel Mayfield December 29, 1921. Christabel was born April 21, 1899, in Denmark, South Carolina. Two children were born to them: Shelley Sylveston, Jr., and Stanwix Mayfield. Christabel died October 4, 1945, and is buried with Shelley in the cemetery of Willow Swamp Baptist Church, near Norway, South Carolina. 13A. Shelley Sylveston Williams, Jr. Shelley Sylveston Williams, Jr., was born July 21, 1924, near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Central High School, Washington, D.C. in 1942 and From the University of South Carolina (A.B. degree in Education) in 1946. He also graduated from Stanford University (M.A. degree in Education) in 1954. Shelley served in the United States Navy as Supply Corps officer From 1946 to 1952. After teaching school for two years, he entered the real estate business in Saratoga, California, where he and his wife now live. In recognition of his achievements in the field of real estate, he was elected in 1979 as an Honorary Director for life of the State of California Real Estate Association. Shelley married Hazel May Roth August 24, 1947. Hazel was born October 21, 1926, in San Diego, California. They have one child, Christabel May. Shelley died 10/10/2015 and will be buried in Willow Swamp Baptist Church cemetery next to his brother Stanwix addition. 13AA. Christabel May Williams. Christabel May Williams was born December 5, 1955, in Palo Alto, California. She graduated from prospect High School, Saratoga, California, in 1973. She is currently studying at California State Polytechnical University. She served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1979. Christabel Williams died 1/12/2008. addition 13B. Stanwix Mayfield Williams. Stanwix Mayfield Williams was born February 24, 1926, near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Central High School, Washington, D.C., in 1944 and from the United States Naval Academy in 1948. He served in the United States Navy as an aviator from 1944 to 1955. His rank was that of Lieutenant. Stanwix married Susan Kern in August, 1951. He died in an airplane accident August 18, 1955, and is buried in the cemetery of Willow Swamp Baptist Church near Norway, South Carolina. 14. Braxton Bragg Williams, Jr. Braxton Bragg Williams, Jr. was born December 12, 1891 , near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Hyatt park High School, Columbia, South Carolina, in 1910 and from the University of South Carolina (B.S. degree) in 1914. After his college days, he became associated with his father and brothers in their several business enterprises, devoting the major part of his time to the mercantile business. Beginning about 1920, he operated his own farm and dairy, near Norway, where he lived all of his life. Bragg was a member of the Board of Trustees of Norway High School for a number of years and the mayor of Norway for Sixteen years. He was very active in farm and dairy organizations throughout the state. From 1933 to 1963, he was a director of the Orangeburg production Credit Association, serving as president for the last fifteen years of this period. He was also a member of the South Carolina Dairy Commission and served two years as Chairman. He was a member of Willow Swamp Church in the early part of his life, but in later life, he moved his membership to the Norway Baptist Church. For many years, he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher in these two churches. Bragg married Alice Alma Funchess December 27, 1916. Alma was born February 16, 1893, in Rowesville, South Carolina. Two children were born to them, James Carlyle and Alma Louise. After the death of Alma, March 24, 1965, Bragg married Daisy Inabinet Funchess April 16, 1966. Daisy was born March 1, 1906, near St. Matthews, South Carolina. Bragg died January 2, 1975. He and his first wife, Alma, are buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg, South Carolina. 14A. James Carlyle Williams. James Carlyle Williams was born October 28, 1917, near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Norway High School in 1934, attended the University of South Carolina for two years and graduated from Clemson University (B.S. degree in Agronomy) in 1939. He has farmed in the vicinity of Norway all of his lite. In addition to his farming interests, he operates a trucking company and is president and principal stockholder of the Norway Telephone Company. James married Lois Eleanor Martin October 15, 1940. Lois was born January 13, 1919, in Elloree, South Carolina. Four children were born to them as follows: Sandra Kaye, James Carlyle, Jr., Eleanor Faye, and Bragg Martin. James' second marriage was to Mary Elizabeth Hebrard April 17, 1975. Elizabeth was born March 29, 1941, in Norway, South Carolina. They have one child, Todd Funchess, who was born February 25, 1977, in Norway. 14AA. Sandra Kaye Williams. Sandra Kaye Williams was born January 3, 1942, in Norway, South Carolina. She graduated from Norway High School in 1960, from Columbia College (B.A. degree in Sociology), Columbia, South Carolina, in 1963 and from Louisiana State University (Master of Social Welfarecorrection) in 1965. She has served in the field of social work all of her adult life. Places where she has worked include the South Carolina State Hospital where she was in the Psychiatric Department, the Pre-Release Center for the South Carolina Department of Corrections, and at Columbia High School, Columbia, South Carolina. She is currently an Assistantcorrection Professor at South Carolina State College, located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she and her husband live. Kaye married Dr. M.E. Borgstedt November 2, 1968. Dr. Borgstedt was born September 8, 1924, in Muncie, Indiana. They have one child Sandra Elise, who was born October 26, 1970, in Orangeburg South Carolina. A second child, Michael Carlyle, was born to Dr. Borgstedt and his wife, Kaye, on February 15, 1981, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. correction 14AB. James Carlyle Williams, Jr. James Carlyle Williams, Jr., was born December 20, 1943, in Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Norway High School in 1961 , from Clemson University (B.S. degree) in 1965 and from the University of South Carolina Law School (J.D. degree) in 1979. Jimmy served in the United States Army Reserves from 1965 to 1976 as Sergeant First Class. He has been engaged in farming, near Norway, since 1965 and is also at the present time practicing law in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was on the Norway Town council from 1967 to 1975 and has been mayor of the town since 1975. 14AC. Eleanor Faye Williams. Eleanor Faye Williams was born January 7. 1945, in Norway, South Carolina. She graduated from Norway High School in 1963 and from Columbia College, Columbia South Carolina, in 1966. She received the degree, Bachelor of Arts in psychology, from Columbia College. Faye married William Burden Bookhart, Jr., October 29, 1966 William was born March 12, 1942, in Elloree, South Carolina. They have two children, William Burden III and James Hunt. William Burden was born July 10, 1968, and James Hunt, Apri1 27, 1971. Both were born in Elloree, South Caorlina. William Burden Bookhart III died April 18, 2013. additions 14AD. He graduated from Hunter-Kinard High School, Norway, South Carolina, in 1971 and from Clemson University in 1975. He is currently engaged in farming, near Norway, and in Farm Machinery and Irrigation Sales and service. Bragg married Harriett Salley Williams January 3, 1976. Harriett was born June 21, 1954, in Rock Hill, South Carolina. They have one child Bragg Martin, Jr. who was born June 11 , 1979, in Norway South Carolina. Laura Eleanor Williams was born to Bragg Martin Williams and his wife, Salley, on May 22, 1981 in Norway, South Carolina. correction 14B. Alma Louise Williams. Alma Louise Williams was born April 6, 1922, near Norway, South Carolina. She graduated from Willow High School, Norway, South Carolina, in 1938, and from Columbia College, Columbia, South Carolina, in 1943. she taught school for about twenty years. Louise married Govie LaVerne Williams December 30, 1943. LaVerne was born November 12, 1920, near Norway, South Carolina. He is the grandson of John W. Williams. (See Section 5). Louise and LaVerne have four children as follows: Pamela Louise, Govie LaVerne, Jr. (Lee), Braxton Bragg III, and Wesley Steven (Steve). 14BA. Pamela Louise Williams. Pamela Louise Williams was born October 19, 1945, in Norway, South Carolina. She graduated from Norway High School in 1963 and attended Columbia College, Columbia, South Carolina. Pam married Charles Keith Myers July 30, 1965. Charles was born July 30, 1943, in Eutawville, South Carolina. They have two children, Andrea Laurel and Charles Keith, Jr. (Les). Andrea Laurel was born January 5, 1967, in Clinton, South Carolina. Charles Keith was born May 3, 1973, in York, South Carolina. Both are now attending public schools. 14BB. Govie LaVerne Williams, Jr. Govie LaVerne Williams, Jr., was born February 10, 1949, in Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Norway High School, from Wade Hampton Academy, Orangeburg, South Carolina, in 1967, and from The Citadel (B.S. degree) Charleston, South Carolina, in 1972. He also attended North Greenville Junior College, Tigerville, South Carolina. He is currently in business with his father in Norway. Lee married Grace Colleen Barton December 1, 1973. Grace was born July 27, 1950, in Aiken, South Carolina. They have two children, Karen Ashley and Govie Lee II. Karen Ashley was born August 20, 1977, and Govie Lee, October 10, 1979. Both were born in Norway, South Carolina. 14BC. Braxton Bragg Williams III. Braxton Bragg Williams III was born March 25, 1950, in Norway, South Carolina. He attended Norway High School, graduated from Wade Hampton Academy, Orangeburg, South Carolina, in 1968 and from Baptist College of Charleston (B.S. degree), Charleston , South Carolina, in 1972. He is currently in business with his father in Norway. 14BD. Wesley Steven Williams. Wesley Steven Williams (Steve) was born September 20, 1957, in Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Wade Hampton Academy, Orangeburg, South Carolina, in 1975 and from Dartmouth College (A.B. degree in Government), Hanover, New Hampshire, in 1979. While at Dartmouth, Steve served as a teaching assistant in the Speech Department.
Annie Lou married Hiram Sanders Allen November 11, 1920. Hiram was born March 20, 1888, near Blythewood, South Carolina. Two children were born to them, Hiram Sanders, Jr., (H.S.) and Ann Joye. Hiram died September 2, 1960, and is buried in the cemetery of Zion Methodist Church, near Blythewood, South Carolina. 15A. Hiram Sanders Allen, Jr. Hiram Sanders Allen, Jr. (H.S.) was born January 1, 1922, near Blythewood, South Carolina. He graduated from Blythewood High School in 1938 and attended Clemson University for several years. He is currently the owner and operator of an Exxon service station, near Columbia, South Carolina, where he and his wife live. H.S. married Evelyn Louise Wright March 22, 1942. Evelyn was born June 16, 1924, in Dillon, South Carolina. They have three children as follows: Hiram Sanders III, Kellum Wright and Barbara Louise. Hiram died October 13, 2007 and is buried in Columbia, SC at Elmwood Cemetery. His wife, Evelyn Louise, died in 2003 additions. 15AA. Hiram Sanders Allen III. Hiram Sanders Allen III was born March 4, 1943, in Charleston, South Carolina. He graduated from Eau Claire High School, Columbia, South Carolina, in 1961 and from the University of South Carolina in 1969. He is currently President of the Fairfield Chemical Company, Inc., located near Blythewood, South Carolina, Hiram married Phyllis Graham July 14, 1964. Phyllis was born December 6, 1945, in Columbia, South Carolina. They have two children, Bryan Scott and Deborah Marie. Bryancorrection Scott was born March 31, 1966, and Deborah Marie, June 30, 1967. Both were born in Columbia, South Carolina. Hiram's second wife was Lawanda Ann Adams. They were married June 13, 1970. Lawanda was born October 20, 1942, in Columbia, South Carolina. They have two adopted children, Valerie Kaye and Briana Lynn. Valerie Kaye was born August 18, 1975, and, Briana Lynn, March 3, 1977. Both were born in Columbia, South Carolina. 15AB. Kellum Wright Allen. Kellum Wright Allen was born April 13, 1951 , in Columbia, South Carolina. He graduated from Eau Claire High School, Columbia, South Carolina, and from the University of South Carolina (B.A. degree in Political Science) in 1973. In 1976, he graduated from the Law School of the University of South Carolina, receiving the J.D. degree. After leaving the University in 1976, he worked for two years as an attorney for the Greenville County Public Defender's Office. He is currently an associate of the Kirkland, Taylor, Wilson and Moore law firm in West Columbia, South Carolina. Kellum married Jane Spangler Inman December 18, 1977. Jane was born May 11, 1952, in Rockingham, North Carolina. Jennifer Inman Allen was born to Kellum Wright Allen and his wife, Jane, on July 16, 1981, in Columbia, South Carolina. correction 15AC. Wayne was born October 30, 1954, in Columbia, South Carolina. 15B. Ann Joye Allen. Ann Joye Allen was born September 29, 1931, near Blythewood, South Carolina. She graduated from Winthrop College (B.A. degree), Rock Hill, South Carolina, in 1953. After graduation from Winthrop, she taught school for several years in North Charleston, South Carolina, and in Columbia, South Carolina. Ann Joye married James Kenneth Mullis August 22, 1954. James was born January 21, 1931 , in Chester, Georgia. They have four children as follows: Catherine Sue, James Kenneth, Jr., Martha Elizabeth and Ann Marie. James Kenneth Mullis, Jr. James Kenneth Mullis, Jr., was born July 14, 1958, in Blythewood, South Carolina. He graduated from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Tifton, Georgia, in 1979. He is currently employed by Massey Ferguson Tractor Company as a service representative. 15BC. Martha Elizabeth Mullis. Martha Elizabeth Mullis was born November 17, 1964correction, in Blythewood, South Carolina. She is currently attending Spring Valley High School, Columbia, South Carolina. 15BD. Ann Marie Mullis. Ann Marie Mullis was born October 10, 1969, in Blythewood, South Carolina. She is at present attending Hanberry Bethel Middle School in Blythewood. Ann Marie worked for many years as a registered nurse in Camden, and Columbia SC. In 2002, she got her post grad in biomedical science, with emphasis in nurse anesthesia, from USC school of medicine in Columbia, SC and currently works for Greenville Health Systems as a Nurse Anesthetist. Ann Marie married Charles Leslie Watson Jr. Dob 4/16/1966. He is originally from Dallas, TX. They have 3 boys: Ian Austin 4/24/2007, Maxwell Gaines and Jacob Keane both born 1/1/2009 addition. Ann Marie sent a note and many photos. 16. Aubrey Grady Williams. Aubrey Grady Williams was born October 7, 1896, near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Norway High Schoo and from Draughon's Business College, Columbia, South Carolina. After he left school, he engaged in farming; first with his father and brothers, and later he operated his own farm near the place of his birth. Aubrey married Pauline Wagener Tidwell December 28, 1916. Pauline was born October 18, 1896, in Ridgeway, South Carolina. Three children were born to them as follows: Annie Elizabeth, Aubrey Grady, correction and Pauline Grace. While attempting to repossess some property which had been illegally removed from his place by one of his tenants, he was killed by this tenant August 29, 1928. He is buried in the cemerery of Willow Swamp Baptist Church, near Norway, South Carolina. Pauline died March 9, 1961, and is buried in the same cemerery with her husband. 16A. Annie Elizabeth Williams. Annie Elizaberh Williams was born October 8. 1917, near Norway, South Carolina. She graduated from Ridgeway High School, Ridgeway, South Carolina, in 1934 and attended Winthrop College, Rock Hill, South Carolina, for two years. Elizabeth married Thomas Oscar Curlee, Jr., September 14, 1940. Thomas was born March 24, 1915 in Charlotte North Carolina. They have three children: Thomas Oscar III, Paul Williams and Mary Christine. Thomas Oscar Curlee III (Tommy) was born May 8, 1942, in DeRidder, Louisiana. He graduated from Greenville High School, Greenville, South Carolina, in 1960 and from Clemson University in 1964 and 1969 with B.S. and M.S. degrees, respectively, in electrical engineering. He was associated at first with Westinghouse Electric Company, bur later became connected with International Business Machines in its computer design division. Tommy married Jean Kathryn Franz Aprjl 29, 1967. Jean was born July 8, 1944, in Buffalo, New York. They have two children, Kathryn Jenny and Caroline Wende. Kathryn Jenny was born January 19, 1976, and, Caroline Wende, July 9, 1978. Both were born in Poughkeepsie New York. 16AB. Paul Williams Curlee. Paul Williams Curlee was born May 8, 1948 in Greenville, South Carolina. He graduated from Patterson School, Lenoir, North Carolina, in 1967 and from The Citadel (B.S. degree in Business Administration), Charleston, South Carolina, in 1971. For several years after graduation from college, he was associated with Janitors Supply and Chemical Company in Greenville, South Carolina. He is currently co-owner of United Chemical and Supply Company in Greenville. Paul married Jessica Riddle Howle December 22, 1978. Jessica was born October 8, 1947, in Greenville, South Carolina. They have two children, Albert Glen Howle and Graham Riddle Howle, born to Jessica in a former marriage. Albert was born August 21 , 1969, and Graham Riddle, October 1, 1971. Both were born in Charleston, South Carolina. She taught school for five years after graduating from college. Mary married Marion Lee Arnett, Jr., June 19, 1972. Lee was born November 11, 1948, in Fort Meade, Maryland. They have one child, Elizabeth Ann, who was born December 18, 1975, in San Antonio, Texas. 16B Aubrey Grady Williams, Aubrey Grady Williams, correction was born September 14, 1921, near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Mount Zion Institute, Winnsboro, South Carolina, in 1939 and from Clemson University (B.S. degree) in 1943. He also studied at the University of South Carolina. From 1943 to 1946, he was in the United States Army, serving with the Fourth Armored Division in the European Theater of Operations. When he was discharged, he held the rank of First Lieutenant and was awarded the Bronze Star medal and Purple Heart with cluster. Several years later, he enlisted in the South Carolina National Guard. When he retired in 1969, he held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After leaving the military service, Grady was an agriculture teacher for a short time in Blackstock High School in Fairfield County. He later served in the same capacity in Mount Zion Institute in Winnsboro, South Carolina. In 1964, he became supervisor of the Fairfield County School Bus Maintenance Shop and, shortly thereafter, he was named Area Supervisor of Transportation for the counties of Fairfield, Richland, York, Chester and Lancaster. He and his family reside in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Grady married Eva Elise Heustess May 25, 1943. Elise was born April 10, 1921 , in Winnsboro, South Carolina. They have two children, Aubrey Grady, Jr. correction and Josephine Elise (Josie). Grady died in October 1995 and is buried in Winnsboro, South Carolina, at the First United Methodist Church Cemetery. He is currently connected with the South Carolina State Department of Education where he serves as Supervisor of the Spartanburg County School Bus Maintenance Shop. Aubrey has two children from his marriage to Peggy Cynthia Estes July 3, 1971: Donna Elise Williams (Lisa) born January 22, 1976, and Aubrey Grady Williams, III, (Trey) born October 5, 1978. Both were born in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Aubrey remarried to Bonnie Thornton September 3, 1988, and the couple now resides in Glenn Springs, South Carolina. correction 16BAA. Donna Elise Williams (Lisa). Donna Elise Williams (Lisa) graduated from Chapman High School in Inman, South Carolina, in June 1994. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 1998 and moved to Maine that same year. Lisa graduated from the University of Maine School of Law in May 2001 and was admitted to the bars of Maine and Massachusetts in October 2001 and January 2002, respectively. She now live in Bedford, New Hampshire, and is in the process of becoming admitted to the New Hampshire bar. She currently work as Director of Administration at a litigation law firm in Manchester, New Hampshire. Lisa is engaged to Scott Bourcier, born June 3, 1975, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Addition 16BAB. Aubrey Grady Williams, III (Trey). Aubrey Grady Williams, III (Trey) graduated from Chapman High School in Inman, South Carolina, in June 1997. Thereafter, he attended Clemson University for several years prior to taking a break to work on some property he is remodeling in Columbus, North Carolina, where he now resides. Addition 16BB. Josephine Elise Williams. Josephine Elise Williams (Josie) was born March 26, 1949, in Winnsboro, South Carolina. She graduated from Winnsboro High School and from Erskine College (A.B. degree in biology), Due West, South Carolina, in 1971. Josie is currently a marine biologist with the South Carolina Wildlife and Marine Resources Department. 16C. Pauline Grace Williams. Pauline Grace Williams was born November 25, 1925, near Norway, South Carolina. She graduated from Ridgeway High School, Ridgeway, South Carolina, in 1942, and attended Winthrop College, Rock Hill, South Carolina, for two years, completing, in 1944, the degree, Associate of Science in Business.correction Grace married Gerald Edwin Proctor (Jerry) July 10, 1951. Jerry was born September 30, 1921 , in Newport, Arkansas. They have three children, Jean Elizabeth, Gerald Edwin, Jr. (Jed) and Jayne Anne. Jean Elizabeth Proctor was born October 12, 1953, in Cambridgeshire, England. (This was while her Father was serving overseas in the United States Air Force. He retired in 1974 with the rank of Colonel, after having served for thirty-two years.) She graduated from West Springfield, High School, Springfield, Virginia, in 1971 and from Radford College (B.S. degree in vocational home economics), Radford, Virginia, in 1975. Jean taught school for three years. She is currently employed by the South Carolina Vocational Rehabilitation Center in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She married Robert F. Day of West Columbia. They have a son, Robert F. "Bob" Day of Columbia. Jean Elizabeth Proctor Day died March 26, 2010 and is buried in Bush River Memorial Gardens. additions 16CB. He graduated from West Springfield High School, Springfield, Virginia, in 1974 and from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (B.S. degree in Business), Blacksburg, Virginia, in 1978. Jed married Trudy Jo Walker May 31 , 1980. Trudy was born May 1, 1953, in Indianapolis, Indiana.
