13. Shelley Sylveston Williams. Shelley Sylveston Williams was born January 17, 1888, near Norway, South Carolina. After attending the public schools in the vicinity of Norway, he attended Mercer University, Macon, Georgia, for one year. He then entered the University of South Carolina and graduated from this institution in 1909. From this time until about 1920, he was in business with his father, devoting much of his time to managing his father's fertilizer plant. From 1920 until his death, November 18, 1928, he operated a farm on the place where he was born. During the First World War, he served in the United States Navy with the rank of Ensign. Shelley married Christabel Mayfield December 29, 1921. Christabel was born April 21, 1899, in Denmark, South Carolina. Two children were born to them: Shelley Sylveston, Jr., and Stanwix Mayfield. Christabel died October 4, 1945, and is buried with Shelley in the cemetery of Willow Swamp Baptist Church, near Norway, South Carolina. 13A. Shelley Sylveston Williams, Jr. Shelley Sylveston Williams, Jr., was born July 21, 1924, near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Central High School, Washington, D.C. in 1942 and From the University of South Carolina (A.B. degree in Education) in 1946. He also graduated from Stanford University (M.A. degree in Education) in 1954. Shelley served in the United States Navy as Supply Corps officer From 1946 to 1952. After teaching school for two years, he entered the real estate business in Saratoga, California, where he and his wife now live. In recognition of his achievements in the field of real estate, he was elected in 1979 as an Honorary Director for life of the State of California Real Estate Association. Shelley married Hazel May Roth August 24, 1947. Hazel was born October 21, 1926, in San Diego, California. They have one child, Christabel May. Shelley died 10/10/2015 and will be buried in Willow Swamp Baptist Church cemetery next to his brother Stanwix addition. 13AA. Christabel May Williams. Christabel May Williams was born December 5, 1955, in Palo Alto, California. She graduated from prospect High School, Saratoga, California, in 1973. She is currently studying at California State Polytechnical University. She served in the United States Army from 1976 to 1979. Christabel Williams died 1/12/2008. addition 13B. Stanwix Mayfield Williams. Stanwix Mayfield Williams was born February 24, 1926, near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Central High School, Washington, D.C., in 1944 and from the United States Naval Academy in 1948. He served in the United States Navy as an aviator from 1944 to 1955. His rank was that of Lieutenant. Stanwix married Susan Kern in August, 1951. He died in an airplane accident August 18, 1955, and is buried in the cemetery of Willow Swamp Baptist Church near Norway, South Carolina. 14. Braxton Bragg Williams, Jr. Braxton Bragg Williams, Jr. was born December 12, 1891 , near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Hyatt park High School, Columbia, South Carolina, in 1910 and from the University of South Carolina (B.S. degree) in 1914. After his college days, he became associated with his father and brothers in their several business enterprises, devoting the major part of his time to the mercantile business. Beginning about 1920, he operated his own farm and dairy, near Norway, where he lived all of his life. Bragg was a member of the Board of Trustees of Norway High School for a number of years and the mayor of Norway for Sixteen years. He was very active in farm and dairy organizations throughout the state. From 1933 to 1963, he was a director of the Orangeburg production Credit Association, serving as president for the last fifteen years of this period. He was also a member of the South Carolina Dairy Commission and served two years as Chairman. He was a member of Willow Swamp Church in the early part of his life, but in later life, he moved his membership to the Norway Baptist Church. For many years, he was a deacon and Sunday School teacher in these two churches. Bragg married Alice Alma Funchess December 27, 1916. Alma was born February 16, 1893, in Rowesville, South Carolina. Two children were born to them, James Carlyle and Alma Louise. After the death of Alma, March 24, 1965, Bragg married Daisy Inabinet Funchess April 16, 1966. Daisy was born March 1, 1906, near St. Matthews, South Carolina. Bragg died January 2, 1975. He and his first wife, Alma, are buried in Memorial Park Cemetery, Orangeburg, South Carolina. 14A. James Carlyle Williams. James Carlyle Williams was born October 28, 1917, near Norway, South Carolina. He graduated from Norway High School in 1934, attended the University of South Carolina for two years and graduated from Clemson University (B.S. degree in Agronomy) in 1939. He has farmed in the vicinity of Norway all of his lite. In addition to his farming interests, he operates a trucking company and is president and principal stockholder of the Norway Telephone Company. James married Lois Eleanor Martin October 15, 1940. Lois was born January 13, 1919, in Elloree, South Carolina. Four children were born to them as follows: Sandra Kaye, James Carlyle, Jr., Eleanor Faye, and Bragg Martin. James' second marriage was to Mary Elizabeth Hebrard April 17, 1975. Elizabeth was born March 29, 1941, in Norway, South Carolina. They have one child, Todd Funchess, who was born February 25, 1977, in Norway. 14AA. Sandra Kaye Williams. Sandra Kaye Williams was born January 3, 1942, in Norway, South Carolina. She graduated from Norway High School in 1960, from Columbia College (B.A. degree in Sociology), Columbia, South Carolina, in 1963 and from Louisiana State University (Master of Social Welfarecorrection) in 1965. She has served in the field of social work all of her adult life. Places where she has worked include the South Carolina State Hospital where she was in the Psychiatric Department, the Pre-Release Center for the South Carolina Department of Corrections, and at Columbia High School, Columbia, South Carolina. She is currently an Assistantcorrection Professor at South Carolina State College, located in Orangeburg, South Carolina, where she and her husband live. Kaye married Dr. M.E. Borgstedt November 2, 1968. Dr. Borgstedt was born September 8, 1924, in Muncie, Indiana. They have one child Sandra Elise, who was born October 26, 1970, in Orangeburg South Carolina. Jimmy served in the United States Army Reserves from 1965 to 1976 as Sergeant First Class. He has been engaged in farming, near Norway, since 1965 and is also at the present time practicing law in Orangeburg, South Carolina. He was on the Norway Town council from 1967 to 1975 and has been mayor of the town since 1975. 14AC. Eleanor Faye Williams. Eleanor Faye Williams was born January 7. 1945, in Norway, South Carolina. She graduated from Norway High School in 1963 and from Columbia College, Columbia South Carolina, in 1966. She received the degree, Bachelor of Arts in psychology, from Columbia College. Faye married William Burden Bookhart, Jr., October 29, 1966 William was born March 12, 1942, in Elloree, South Carolina. They have two children, William Burden III and James Hunt. He is currently the owner and operator of an Exxon service station, near Columbia, South Carolina, where he and his wife live. H.S. married Evelyn Louise Wright March 22, 1942. After he left school, he engaged in farming; first with his father and brothers, and later he operated his own farm near the place of his birth. Aubrey married Pauline Wagener Tidwell December 28, 1916. Pauline was born October 18, 1896, in Ridgeway, South Carolina. Three children were born to them as follows: Annie Elizabeth, Aubrey Grady, correction and Pauline Grace. While attempting to repossess some property which had been illegally removed from his place by one of his tenants, he was killed by this tenant August 29, 1928. He graduated from Mount Zion Institute, Winnsboro, South Carolina, in 1939 and from Clemson University (B.S. degree) in 1943. He also studied at the University of South Carolina. From 1943 to 1946, he was in the United States Army, serving with the Fourth Armored Division in the European Theater of Operations. When he was discharged, he held the rank of First Lieutenant and was awarded the Bronze Star medal and Purple Heart with cluster. Several years later, he enlisted in the South Carolina National Guard. When he retired in 1969, he held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After leaving the military service, Grady was an agriculture teacher for a short time in Blackstock High School in Fairfield County. He later served in the same capacity in Mount Zion Institute in Winnsboro, South Carolina. In 1964, he became supervisor of the Fairfield County School Bus Maintenance Shop and, shortly thereafter, he was named Area Supervisor of Transportation for the counties of Fairfield, Richland, York, Chester and Lancaster. He and his family reside in Winnsboro, South Carolina. Grady married Eva Elise Heustess May 25, 1943. Elise was born April 10, 1921 , in Winnsboro, South Carolina.
