1/9/2011: The RootsWeb item, that was formally here about Lt. James Williams of Kings Mountain fame possibly being the father of Theophilus Williams, has been removed. That possible family connection has been ruled out by DNA evidence.

Married to Ella Irwin Smith, born 4/19/63 of Atlanta on 10/10/92, couple live in Atlanta & have two children, Christopher Calhoun Tyler born 9/2/1995 and Cameron Smith Tyler born 5/26/1997.

11AC. Mary Ellen Hill. Mary Ellen Hill was born November 10, 1952, in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She graduated from Cox High School, Virginia Bench, Virginia, in 1970 and attended Tidewater Community College from 1970 to 1972, Old Dominion University 1972-1974, University of Virginia 1986-1987. She married William Duval Ridgewell November 4, 1971. William was born October 27, 1944, in Norfolk. Virginia and died March 4, 2001. Five children were born to them: Willinm Duval, Jr., Tonyia Ellen, Wesley Gordon, Angela Vaughn, and Webster Waylon Calvin Ridgwell. William Duval, Jr., was born June 1, 1973, Tonyia Ellen, April 19, 1975 died April 18, 1983, Wesley Gordon, January 10, 1977, Angela Vaughn October 18, 1979 and Webster Waylon October 24, 1986.

11CAC. David Alfred Williams---graduated from U. of Colorado and received his MBA from Cornell. He married Claudia Stehlik( 2/23/66) in Munich, Germany,July 25,1994. Claudia is from Berlin, Germany. They are in Real Estate in Durango, Co. They have 2 children: Anthony David(10/25/96) and Emily Susan(3/25/99).

11CB. Betsy Carol Williams Hegg and her husband now live in Arlington, Virginia having moved there in 1998. She has retired but has volunteered at the White House since 1998.

11CBA. Shannon Carol Hegg works for Microsoft in Mountain View, California where she is a project manager for the company.

11CBB. Richard Yates Hegg lives in Arlington Virginia and works for a lobbying firm, The Potomac Group, in Washington, D.C. He married Dabney Parrish Roversi (born 8/24/75) on 10/10/98. She works as an administrative assistant to SC Senator Fritz Hollings. They have one child, Richard Yates Hegg II born on Feb 6, 2003.

11DA. Marshall Burns Williams, Jr. Died March 9, 2007 and is buried in Barnwell County Cemetary, Barnewll, South Carolina.

11DB. Ann Shecut Williams. Ann Shecut Williams was born March 8, 1947, in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She graduated from Vardell Hall, Red Springs, North Carolina, in 1965 and from the Art Institute of Atlanta, Atlanta, Georgia, in 1975. She presently lives in Atlanta, Georgia, where she is an interior designer, author and speaker.

Ann married Gilmer Woodrow Cloer July 15, 1966. Gilmore was born July 15, 1946, at Maxwell Field, Alabama. They have two children, Ann Courtney and Margaret Fitzgerald. Ann Courtney was born March 12. 1967, and Margaret Fitsgerald, January 26, 1970. Both were born in Columbia, South Carolina. Ann was divorced in 1973. She married John Oliver Platz on April 6, 1980. John is a retired executive.

11DBB. Margaret Fitzgerald Cloer. Margaret Fitzgerald Cloer was born January 26, 1970 in Columbia, South Carolina. She graduated from Greater Atlanta Christian School in Norcross, Georgia in 1988.

She married Robert Blatt Mirmow on September 12, 1992 and divorced September 12, 1997. Robert was born October 12, 1962 in Orangeburg, SC. They have 1 child: Robert Morris Mirmow (born September 8, 1994 in Orangeburg, SC).

Margaret married Nelson Bosworth McDonald on October 3, 2002. They live in Atlanta, GA.

11DDA. Marian Louise Williams Scalise was born September 4, 1969 in Columbia, SC. She graduated from Orangeburg Preparatory Schools in 1987, College of Charleston with a BS in Business Administration in 1991, and from USC School of Law in 1994 with a Juris Doctor degree.

She married Matthew Christopher Scalise on June 8, 1991. Matthew was born May 23 1969 in Pittsburg, PA and adopted through Catholic Charities by Sam and Sherry Scalise of St. Albans, WV. The adoption was finalized in Wheeling, WV. Matthew graduated from The Citadel in 1991 with a BS in Business Administration. They have 2 children: Matthew Christopher Scalise, Jr. (born February 4, 1994) and Margaret Louise Scalise (born July 13, 1997).

Marian practices law in Myrtle Beach with Richardson, Plowden, Carpenter & Robinson specializing in medical malpractice defense, and Matthew is a real estate broker with Scalise Realty in Surfside Beach, SC specializing in sales of oceanfront property in Garden City and Surfside. They live in Surfside Beach.

11DDB. Ashley Elizabeth Williams Groot graduated from Orangeburg Preparatory Schools in 1994, Wofford College with a BA in Business Economics in 1998, and from USC School of Law in 2001 with a Juris Doctor degree. She married Willem Alexander Groot (born: March 19 1973) from Spartanburg, SC on June 12, 1999. He graduated from Wofford College with a BA in Spanish, International Masters of Business Asministration from the University of South Carolina in 2002. They have two children: Willem Alexander Groot, Jr. "Will" (born October 18 2003) and Mary Ashley Groot (born February 22 2005). Ashley is a pharmaceutical represenitive with Eli Lilly and Willem is a Relationship Manager with Wachovia Securities. They live in Fort Mill, SC.

12BCA. Margaret Christine Dufford. Margaret Christine (Christie) was born November 10, 1962 and married William Joseph Unthank (Jan. 2, 1960) on August 4, 1987. Christie is a graduate of the Medical University of South Carolina with a Physical Therapy degree. Christie is a home-health Physical Therapist. They live in West Columbia, SC with their 4 children: Victoria Christine born Oct. 7, 1990, William Bates born June 15, 1992, Abigail Esther born Nov. 30, 1996 and Joseph Floyd born April 4, 1998. All children are currently home schooled.

12BCB. Philip Houck Dufford. Philip was born December 12, 1965 and earned a Master of Architecture degree from Clemson University in 1988. He owns his own Architectural firm in Charleston, SC. Philip lives in Charleston, SC.

12BCC. Nancy Lynn Dufford. Nancy was born March 20, 1969 and married Lewis Tyler Sumner (Apr. 3, 1968) on Jan. 28, 1995. Nancy has a degree in Pharmacy from the Medical University of South Carolina. They live in Anderson, SC. Nancy and Lewis have four children: Riley Rebecca born March 23, 1997, Luke Tyler born Jan. 20, 2000, Ethan Dufford born March 16, 2003 and Knox Robinson born March 12, 2005. Riley Rebecca and Luke Tyler attend private elementary school in Anderson, SC.

15A. Hiram Sanders Allen, Jr. Hiram died October 13, 2007 and is buried in Columbia, SC at Elmwood Cemetery. His wife, Evelyn Louise, died in 2003.

16B. Aubrey Grady Williams -- continuing the correction for the second Aubrey Grady (born 1921) not being named "Jr." his son (born 1947) was named "Jr." not the third so the children are: Aubrey Grady, Jr. and Josephine Elise (Josie).

Grady died in October 1995 and is buried in Winnsboro, South Carolina, at the First United Methodist Church Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Elise.

Aubrey has two children from his marriage to Peggy Cynthia Estes July 3, 1971: Donna Elise Williams (Lisa) born January 22, 1976, and Aubrey Grady Williams, III, (Trey) born October 5, 1978. Both were born in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Aubrey remarried to Bonnie Thornton September 3, 1988, and the couple now resides in Glenn Springs, South Carolina.

16BAA. Donna Elise Williams (Lisa). graduated from Chapman High School in Inman, South Carolina, in June 1994. She graduated from the University of South Carolina in May 1998 and moved to Maine that same year. Lisa graduated from the University of Maine School of Law in May 2001 and was admitted to the bars of Maine and Massachusetts in October 2001 and January 2002, respectively. She now live in Bedford, New Hampshire, and is in the process of becoming admitted to the New Hampshire bar. She currently works as Director of Administration at a litigation law firm in Manchester, New Hampshire. Lisa is engaged to Scott Bourcier, born June 3, 1975, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.

16BAB Aubrey Grady Williams, III (Trey) graduated from Chapman High School in Inman, South Carolina, in June 1997. Thereafter, he attended Clemson University for several years prior to taking a break to work on some property he is remodeling in Columbus, North Carolina, where he now resides.

16CA. Jean Elizabeth Proctor married Robert F. Day of West Columbia. They have a son, Robert F. "Bob" Day of Columbia. Jean Elizabeth Proctor Day died March 26, 2010 and is buried in Bush River Memorial Gardens.

18. Wyman Loren Williams retired from the University of South Carolina in 1970 as Professor Emeritus. He died June 14, 1986. Lorraine died March 18. 1987. They are buried at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, Columbia, South Carolina.

18A Wyman Loren Williams, Jr. died January 12, 2009 in Deep Gap, North Carolina. His ashes are interred in the Memorial Garden of St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Boone, NC. There is more information available elsewhere on this website. Sarah G. Williams now resides in Decatur, Ga.

18AA Loren Williams worked for eight years in the hotel business in various locations in the United States and in Singapore. In 1988, he left this career to return to school at Georgia State University, where he was awarded the PhD in Economics in 1993. Since leaving graduate school, he has pursued a career in consulting and business software. He and his family live in Decatur, Georgia and are active members of St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church

Loren's second marriage was to Susan Ann Clark on December 18, 1983. Susan was born February 18, 1953, in Syracuse, New York. Loren and Susan have three children: Kate Hendry, Samuel Cooper, and Sally Rebecca.

18AAA, Kate Hendry Williams was born on December 7, 1986 in Singapore. In 2005, she graduated from Decatur High School, where she was co-editor of the school newspaper. In the fall of 2005, she will matriculate at Reed College, in Portland Oregon.

18AAB, Samuel Cooper Williams was born on April 4, 1989 in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a student at Decatur High School, in Decatur, Georgia and a gifted guitar player.

18AAC, Sally Rebecca Williams was born on November 21, 1992 in Atlanta, Georgia. She is a student at Renfroe Middle School, in Decatur, Georgia and a junior member of the Metro Dance corps.

18AB, Stephen Douglas Williams. Stephen Douglas Williams was born, July 26, 1956, in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from Douglas Freeman High School, Richmond, Virginia, in 1973, and from Virginia Commonwealth University (B.S. degree), Richmond, Virginia, in 1978. He attended Washington State University, Pullman, Washington where he earned the Ph. D. in chemical physics in 1983 and took a position with the chemistry department at Appalachian State University in Boone NC where he is now a professor. In 1988 He married Helen Linda Johnston who was born on September 15, 1956 in Los Angeles CA. They have a son Aaron Michael Williams who was born in Boone on October 8, 1996.

18ABA, Aaron Michael Williams was born on October 8, 1996 in Boone NC. He is a student at Parkway Elementary School in Boone. He is fond of frogs and computer games.

18AC. David Williams graduated from The Evergreen State College in 1984 (B.A. Film and Video Production), worked for King Broadcasting in Washingtion, DC as a news photographer editor until 1991 when he "retired" to Costa Rica. While in Costa Rica he taught English and guided rafts on whitewater tours. David returned to the Washington DC area in 1993 and is now employed by AARP Services, Inc. as Manager of Web Technology for www.aarp.org.

David married Sarah Elizabeth Zapolsky November 28^th 1998. Sarah was born May 21^st, 1966 in Washingtion, DC. She is employed by AARP as a Senior Research Advisor.

18ACA. David and Sarah welcomed the birth of their first child, Robert Becker Zapolsky Williams, July 22^nd, 2004.

18B. Leland changed careers in 1988, when he became Computer Resources Architect at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. From about 1993 until December 31, 1995, when he retired, Leland was assigned to the Department of Defense High Performance Computing Modernization Program. This program was concerned with upgrading research computer capabilities for all Army, Navy, and Air Force research laboratories. Leland and Cornelia lived in Alexandria, VA until they moved "home" to Columbia, a move they completed in April, 1998. They are active in Eastminster Presbyterian Church.

18BB. Carolee married Douglas Randall James on March 10, 1990. Doug was born on May 23, 1965 in Washington, DC. Carolee and Doug have two children Alex Gunter Williams James was born on February 6, 1994 in Mount Pleasant, SC. Stuart Winkler Williams James was born on July 9, 1997 in Mount Pleasant, SC. The family lives in Charleston, SC where Carolee is a City Planner and Doug is Project Manager for Osprey Construction Company. They are active in Circular Congregational Church.

18BC. Lee (Leland, Jr.) graduated in 1983 (B.S. Commerce) and married Gwendolyn Franck on July 6, 1985. Wendy was born September 30, 1959 in Staunton, VA. Lee obtained his MBA from The University of Virginia in 1988. Lee and Wendy have three children. Carol Ann was born October 30, 1988 in Durham, NC. Alicia Michelle was born October 1, 1990 in Durham, NC. Elizabeth Joy was born August 17, 1995 in Chapel Hill, NC. Lee worked for 14 years in marketing for Nortel Networks and Arris, then changed careers in 2002 when he joined Richport Properties and became Director of Development. They live in Norcross, Georgia, where they are active in Perimeter Presbyterian Church.

18CA. Sharon Kathleen Williams and Rick Andell have three more children, Richard Lee Andell, Jr., Stephanie Elizabeth Andell and Elaine Kathleen Andell.
Stacy Diana Andell, married Kade Mascarella (born November, 1976 in Hattiesburg, MS) in June of 2009. They are expecting their first child in June of 2010. The family resides in Beijing, China. Richard Lee Andell, Jr. was born July 21, 1983 in O'Fallon, IL. Richard is engaged to Melissa Kay Cook (born April 27, 1985 in O'Fallon, IL). They will be married in July of 2010 and plan to reside in Illinois. Stephanie Elizabeth Andell was born September 18, 1989 in O'Fallon, IL. She will begin her junior year of college in the fall and resides in South Dakota. Elaine Kathleen Andell was born July 11, 1993 in O'Fallon, IL. She is currently attending high school.
