It was chilly but we headed down King Street to catch the pipers and rest of the Scottish Walk festivities. There were lot of kilts and lots of pipe and drum bands. | ||||||||
The musket and rifle folks who stopped to fire off blanks every now and again were a little disconcerting; especially to the younger kids in the crowd. This year, Robert didn't complain about that loud noise being scary (but the little girl standing next to us was not pleased). | ||||||||
We couldn't peg this guy's era exactly. There were a lot of traditional sword guys, revolutionary era guys, others clearly in World War One or Two gear. But there were three of these folks who I took to be Boer War-era. But that's just my guess. After the parade, we stopped into Thai Old Town for lunch -- the Thai food with Christmas Carols on the sound system and pipers still walking by the restaurant was a very odd melange of cultures. After lunch, we stopped at Carlyle House where they had a small camp set up for reenactors. Robert was enthralled. | ||||||||
When we got home, Robert rounded up Jonathan and Meaghan for a parade down Sunset Drive... | ||||||||
