Christmas in Decatur

There was a sad overtone to Christmas this year: David's mom, Sarah died the morning of Christmas Eve. Her decline made Decatur the obvious spot for Christmas this year. Though the Zapolskys had a happier hook: Harry's 80th Birthday Bash. We divided on conquered with Sarah and Robert going to the Birthday Bash and David joining his brothers in Decatur. Sarah and Robert flew in from New York on Christmas Eve. The weather was really odd: warm and rainy, as the photo of lake Lamont (Susan and Loren's backyard) can attest. |

| Inside, the tree was splendid and the whole Williams clan was there Christmas morning. Some were more serious about the present exchange than others... (I'm looking at you Deep Gappians.) |

| Helen has taken to making these really cool birds; I'm not sure if they are sculptures as they are not carved from one piece. But they are way cool; and she hung them off the stockings. |

| There was brief period of quiet as folks gathered (and coffee was made) before the unwrapping began. |

| After the gifts were unwrapped, and put away. There was a chance for a walk in the crazy warm weather (the rain had stopped) and then the Christmas dinner. Paul, Sandy, Paul Jr. and Annie Thim came over (as they did last year). Annie brought Roman this year. And Chuck joined the table again this year. As should be clear in the photos, a good time was had by all... |

| And, of course, there was some down time with the Williams clan in one place. Helen is looking old school with an actual book, while Robert learns about dwarfs from Aaron. |
| As noted, there was a sad overtone this year. SMom's memorial service at St. Bart's was the 29th. Afterwards, we got together at the Thim's house (thank you Paul and Sandy) with some more of the extended Williams clan.
