Robert's third birthday started out with unwrapping the big box, followed by a rushed breakfast before assembling the work bench. Then it was time to open the rest of his presents. He got lots of books (from both sets of grands), a Galapagos tee shirt from Grandpa and Nona, and is waiting for some delayed blocks from Pop Pop and Smom (he has lots to keep him occupied). The monkey math balance was inspired by a math scale Robert's uncle Hank has. We played with it at their place and thought it was really cool -- if maybe a little beyond Robert now.
In the afternoon, Audry (11 months old, from next door), Romeo, Caroline (and her new baby sister Eleanore), and Evan (and their parents) came by to help celebrate Robert's birthday. I think we all had a blast.
I'm not sure we'll believe the packaging on icing that says it does not need to be refrigerated to set. Sarah did a great job reproducing Robert's police car in sugar, flour and food dye. And everyone enjoyed it. Maybe Robert the most -- note the blue hands.
And, of course, even the big kids liked the moonbounce! Yes, we were smart enough to bounce before cake :)
