Just a really nice May day to go play at the Blue Park. Robert is getting very interested in "Cycles" but still working on understanding how to make his tricycle go...
And also a nice day to get on the Potomac. David and Hank had fun in the sunny weather. (That's Hank in the squirt boat, David took the photos). Robert is getting ready to join the rest of the family on the river (after he learns to swim).
Sarah had a great wish for Mother's Day: a visit to our local farm. You might think it hard to believe that we have a local farm, but we do. Oxon Hill Farm, a part of Oxon Cove Park, is a working farm run by the National Park Service. And it's just across the Potomac River in Maryland. The weather was overcast but no rain while we were out, and a little cool. So we had the farm -- and the animals -- pretty much to ourselves.
We were able to feed the chickens (and get flogged by the aggressive rooster -- no injury resulted), pet the horses (they are used to work the fields), look at the ducks on their pond, watch the sheep and goats (and kids) eat a snack, and see a humongous pig. After our first trip around the loop, Robert decided to attach himself to the one other family we met there, and we made another loop. The second time around, he climbed into the hay ride trailer, with some help on the first step.
