A test photo for the new camera to make sure it's working OK -- closeups seem to be fine, but Robert is not so sure of the that...

Practicing grabbing before the busy social calendar of November.

The social events started with a party at Hank and Sally's house to celebrate Brian's return for Thanksgiving. You can tell Sally is fond (to put it mildly) of Robert.
And Brian is starting Robert's education off correctly with proper tongue-sticking-out techniques:

Then we packed up our stuff, Robert's stuff and some food stuff and headed to the beach. We met up with Robert's Grandpoppa Loren and Grandmomma Sarah
(celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary
at a lovely beach house on Ocracoke Island, NC. The trip down was pleasant and uneventful. Robert slept through most of it but did wake
up for some of the fun bits, like the ferry ride from Hatteras.

Knowing the general way of Thanksgiving, David started Robert practicing his, "I'm stuff and have to nap" moves early. Before the first visit to the beach
(which was a bit chilly).

The napping practice was a task shared by several adults.... But there was also some work on table manners; Helen showing Robert how to sit up like a big boy
(not something he has completely mastered yet -- as of his 4th monthday).

Robert's cousins (in this example, Madeline and Sally) had a great time getting to know him.
And he enjoyed playing with his dad and grandmother when cousins, aunts and uncles were not dominating his time.
Robert's second trip to the beach was better advertised than his first. And the weather was a bit nicer too. We really did luck out on the weather front with
highs in the mid 60s and sunny most of the time we were there. Truly spectacular for late November.

This was just a practice meal; we all had to work to get in shape for the actual Thanksgiving dinner. (From left to right: Sally, Steve, Loren (Grandpoppa),
Loren, Robert, Susan, Helen, Aaron and Sarah (Grandmomma) -- back to camera). see part two for the more fun.
