Nice day on the river
last update: 07/25 @ 22:25

The traditional trip to the Lego store followed by Sushi-go-round was yesterday.

Robert spent most of the afternoon and evening building the Mustang set. Pictures to come of that.

And we watched some Olympics yesterday.

And again this morning.

But it was time to get out of the house by this afternoon.

Robert met up at a volleyball court for some outdoor volleyball (and injured his knee a bit).

Sarah and I headed to Angler’s Inn and paddled up the gorge.

It was a perfect day for it.

The occasional slip off the board or attempt to roll the canoe were felt great. And the threat of rain held off (we did hear some distant thunder).

For the record, it looks easier to roll a canoe on Youtube than I found it to be. That is still a work in progress.

Speaking of cars
last update: 07/23 @ 23:15

Robert was in a week long welding camp and the project was a Gravity Cart. Sarah took the video. The cart was too big and heave to bring home, but Robert has the steering wheel. Which comes off just like in F1 race cars.

Welding seems like a really useful skill and I’m jealous.

Speaking of tradition…

… This was the scene yesterday morning. Robert got Irn-Bru (favored Scottish soft drink), several Lego cars to build and a new XBox (driving) game for his birthday.

Looking back at previous years, I see Legos are a theme.

And Saturday, we’re going back the Lego store in the mall, in person (and to have sushi from the sushi-go-round restaurant). Many traditions continuing.

Tradition!!!

Back to Los Tios for birthday celebration!

Robert is now 17, driving and looking at colleges.

It’s been a while since we started celebrating birthdays with a Los Tios sombrero.

Still getting used to it…
last update: 07/19 @ 17:52

Robert had to work yesterday afternoon. Sarah and I did some errands in the morning and then headed to the river in the afternoon.

While it’s low, it’s still a lot of fun.

And very pretty to be on the Potomac by Angler’s Inn. I’m sorry Robert missed it; maybe next time.

Back home after a brief trip to space
last update: 07/11 @ 13:48

Well, Space Camp, actually. And a great visit with family in Atlanta — even a bit of college touring.

Many more photos in the vacations section.
