We drove down to Ocracoke Island to celebrate Kate's wedding! She and Sean picked a perfect time of the year. The weather was fantastic; the wedding was picture perfect, and the bride and groom seem very happy. The trip down was uneventful (there was a small issue of the ferry losing it's steering, but that was before we got very far). And we were sharing a beach house with Steve, Helen and Aaron. So Thursday afternoon, we went to watch the sunset on the beach before a welcome happy hour at 1718 Brewing — they had a great chocolate stout.
The longer we stayed on the beach, the prettier it got.
The next day, we went by the beach to play more earlier. Then cleaned up for the big event.
Sally was a maid of honor. Sam walked Susan down the aisle. Loren walked a splendid Kate down the aisle. Once Kate and Sean were legally married, they drove up to reception in a decked out golf cart.
The reception was a great time to catch up with all the extended family and friends who had come to celebrate the wedding. Eduardo's catered the reception in and outside the Flying Melon (it helps to be family). The food was great and the company excellent!
The next day, we walked around the short, local Springers Point nature trail behind Loren and Susan's house. Then headed back to our beach house for an excellent game of Settlers of Catan before a fabulous dinner at The Flying Melon (best food on the island) and meeting the wedding party for a farewell bonfire on the beach under the stars.
Best of luck Kate and Sean!!!
