We made a quick trip up to Boston for a wedding of one of Sarah's fellow Clarkies. We escaped the latest wacky weather in DC by flying out in a break in tropical storm Lee's clouds. The weather in Boston was great (we did feel a little guilty looking at the DC area floods we'd escaped).
Since Make Way for Ducklings is one of Robert's favorite books (Sarah and mine as well now) we had to visit the public gardens. And finally Robert could take is place in line, "...Jack, Kack, Lack, Mack, Nack, Ouack, Pack, and Quack, and Robert." And Sarah and I both really enjoyed the Museum of Science and their artificial aquarium, so we had to introduce Robert to the fun of designing your own fish and seeing how they fare with hungry (or less hungry) sharks.
The museum also has this very cool kinetic sculpture. It made us late to pick up our rental car for the trip to Cape Cod. (But Sarah arranged a backup car that worked out just fine.)
Since it was an afternoon wedding and the weather was so great, we headed to the beach. The water was not too bad; however, only Robert was smart enough to bring a bathing suit...
Terry and Tanya tied the knot on the sand with the ocean stretched out before them. Then we all repaired to the reception where Robert saw this Thunderbird and said, "Look, it has gills!" There were lots of other kids there (Terry is one of the last of the Clark crowd to wed) and goody bags for them to play with. At sunset the happy couple stepped outside for a few more photos.
