Christmas 2018

December 10, 2018
We had a special guest this year for decorating the tree: Sally happened to be passing through DC. So she was here to hang her own ornament: given to us in 1996.

This year, with the Zapolksy - Hubbard Thanksgiving, and plans for catching up with the Williamses in May, we had a mellow Christmas at home. We did join the Hubbard clan for a great Christmas eve dinner and several rounds of Catch Phrase. Then we came home, put out cookies for Santa and went to bed.

The next day was all it should be:
Presents, Lego building, some running around outside with Robert's new Nerf laser guns.

The kitties mostly put up with it (and seemed to accept their new collars — hard to say with kitties if they were pleased or not); the Nerf laser guns come with sound effects. This was not as quiet a Christmas as they may have hoped for.

We also received several games and had a couple rounds of Sushi Go Party; Robert had played a couple times before in game club, but it was new to the rest of the family.

And Sarah had a recipe in the wings to try out her new upright mixer. Now we're relaxing with books and the smell of roasting duck and caramelizing onions.

An Excellent Christmas!
